HUMAN NATURE

Series Three, Episode Eight

Reviewed by Tom

“Did they see your face?” seems to be the burning question on the Doctor’s lips. But more importantly for us, where on earth is the Doctor?

To escape from ‘The Family’ we see (eventually throughout the episode) the Doctor has changed his genetics to become pure human. With a back story built up by the TARDIS, they end up in 1913 England. A time of hope for all in the country. But with our Time lord Doctor gone and Martha having to improvise a story for herself – all cannot go to plan.

However, the Doctor’s brilliant mind is still there, behind ‘John Smith’s’ occasionally, he’ll get a flashback “I dream I’m this … adventurer. This daredevil. A Madman.”
He writes this in a journal hoping never to show anyone. Love, of course, steels this hope as John Smith meets Joan, the nurse at the school for boys he ends up in.

Will the doctor be back? How? When? Who really are ‘The Family? And until Saturday 2nd of June, these questions will not be answered. With wedding bells and laser beams in the distance, we can only hope that our heroes can save the day this time! After all – this is not the Doctor’s story, nor is it Martha’s – it’s John Smith’s!
