Super Records
25 May 2008 by Simon

McFly posted this on their MySpace blog earlier this week...
Hey everyone,
As you may have heard, we have created a brand new record label called "SUPER RECORDS"! We are all unbelievably excited to be releasing our new album and singles through our own label as it now allows us to have complete creative control over our music. This means that from now on, everything you see and hear from McFLY comes 100% from us and no one else!
Obviously this is a huge step in our career and we would not be able to do it without all our incredibly loyal fans. Your support was a huge factor in the decision to start this new venture and we hope you are all as excited as we are.
We are almost finished making our 4th studio album and we truly feel it is the best we have ever made. We hope you are as eager to hear it as we are to release it...it wont be long! The single will be out on July 14th and the album on the 21st but you will start to see and hear a lot of changes before then.
So, watch this space! Tom, Danny, Dougie and Harry SUPER RECORDS - Saving The World, One Song At A Time
Also a report on Digital Spy reckons the new album will be more rockier...
McFly have said that their first album on independent label Super Records will be edgier than previous material. The pop band parted ways with their old record company Island following the release of their Greatest Hits last year.
Singer Tom Fletcher claimed the group's new LP wouldn't be polished or altered by their label like their last three records. "When we recorded our albums before they’d always come back sounding miles different from what we wanted. We’d write lyrics and be told to change them," said Fletcher. Harry Judd added: "We’ve got closet fans and I think now they won’t be so ashamed to admit they like us."
According to The Sun, the new songs make the group sound like "full-blooded, ballsy rockers".

McFly planning on leaving record label
11 Feb 2008 by Simon
|
McFly have decided that they want to leave their record label, according to a report.
Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd are in Australia recording the last album that they are expected to release under their current deal with Island Records.
The lads are said to be "tired of being a boy band" and wish to find a label which will give them the freedom to change their image.
A source told The Sun: "The boys feel they have outgrown the company. Label chiefs have plans for them they disagree with. They are tired of being a boy band.
"They want to be recognised for their songwriting and being more than just a teen act. The time in Australia has given them a chance to put together their battle plan. They are all really excited about the idea of being free to make their own decisions about their future."
UPDATED: Apparently Tom's sister Carrie has said that the band have already left Island and are currently recording their next album in Australia on their own. |
